How to Attach a Lace Front?
1.
What is a lace front wig or full lace wig?
A hairpiece or full wig which is made with a mesh like lace insert in
the front or all around (for pony tails) or full system into which individual
hairs are hand-tied. This is designed to create a realistic looking hairline.
The lace is trimmed to match the skin after purchase so that only a part
that looks comfortable and more realistic to the client is left. When
properly worn with special adhesive, the hairline can be so realistic
looking as to be virtually undetectable that it is not the wearer’s
own growing hair. It resembles a lot of the wigs that we see on models
on the runways as well as famous actresses. return top

How
to Attach a Lace Front?
A
Very Good Way to Attach Any Lace Front:
This method will protect the lace front from fraying indefinitely. Using
the popular 3/4" Redor blue Liner Track Tape, cut the Red Liner Tape down
the center creating many 3" long strips 3/8" wide. Place one
cut of the Tape starting 1/2" on to the polyurethane tape patch area
where the lace front connects to it. Began laying the strip of the Red
Liner tape (with the liner still attached) directly on the very front
hairline of the lace edge. Press it firmly onto the lace. Continue placing
strips all the way around the front pressing firmly as you go. As the
tape strip will need to be cut a few times to make it conform to the arc
of the front it will be necessary to overlap the Red Liner Tape slightly.
Do this by peeling up the edge of the Red Liner next to the strip you
are working with. Continue laying the strips until you have finished taping
the entire front edge from side to side with the 3/8" strips. Finish
your final strip 1/2" on to the Polyurethane area next to the lace
front where it is attached on that side also. There must be no separations
in this tape strip line.
You have now created a clear see through Red Liner tape Ribbon edge on
the Lace front. This tape will stay on the edge for an extended period
of time.
After the red plastic covering the adhesive is removed from the tape it
is applied directly to the scalp. This tape should stick well for a few
days even if the unit is removed from the customer's head. After it stops
sticking the liquid tape is used to attach the Front Red Liner Tape to
the forehead. Simply brush on a light coating to the existing Red Liner
Tape. The original Red Liner Tape can never be removed by the customer.
That tape will stay for as long as you are comfortable with it - sometimes
as long as 3 months. The customer may carefully clean the interior
side of the Red Liner with adhesive cleaner-remover at any time.
For a lace front wig:
Clean the area where you want to tack down the lace (usually the temples)
and proceed as in the previous steps.
Remember most lace front wigs do not need this extra step, correct placing
and pinning should make the piece feel secure enough. Always use the spirit
gum sparingly.
Removal:
Always proceed gently when removing pieces. Using a small brush with topsol
solvent or 99% alcohol, dab at the area where the spirit gum was placed
and gently pull away from the skin. Always clean your pieces before re-applying
by pacing on a paper towel and dabbing at the gum to dissolve the glue.
Never use anything but approved cleansers or 99% alcohol for this process.
How to apply a lace front wig: ( Glue only
can be used as well making sure to let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes or
until glue is tacky)
- 1 Clean hair and
or scalp and dry. ( Exfoliate scalp for best results), cut off excess
lace on unit leaving about half inch on.
- 2 Applying scalp
protector to the lace and will provide easier clean up.
- 3 Apply red liner
tape to inside of lace wig on the tracking lines..you can apply only
on the temple areas and back area as you see the fit of wig.
- 4 Using a make
up sponge or small painting brush, apply 2 thin coats of glue to the
tape, now applied to the tracks on the unit.
- 5 Let stand for
5 to 10 minutes until glue is tacky.
- 6 In the meantime,
apply tape to your own head on the same positions as on the unit. Repeat
step 5 on your head.
- 7 Place the unit
on your head and press firmly, adjusting it for proper fit.
8 Make sure the lace
stretches properly to blend to skin as you attach.
Using tape only with no glue:
Use the following step for tape only:
- 1 Remove shelding
from one side of tape after cutting into 1 to 2 inch strips.
- 2 Apply tape to
wig or hair piece where desired.
- 3 Remove shelding
from second side of tape.
- 4 Position wig
or hair piece on head where desired.
- 5 PRESS firmly
where tape is applied to bond to scalp.
BONDING
INSTRUCTIONS: Another method
- 1 Cut desired length
of track tape from roll.
- 2 Remove
shielding from track tape and put glue on tape
- 3 Apply tape to
lace front wig or hair piece along track system.
- 4 Apply desired
front tape or adhesive to front area of wig or hair piece for securing.
- 5 Apply and secure
lace front wig or hair piece to front area.
- 6 Position lace
front wig or hair piece forward over your face.
- 7 Apply Hard Bond
Adhesive to track tape (Allow 3-minutes for set-up before applying wig
or hair piece.)
- 8 Position lace
front wig or hair piece over track area.
- 9 PRESS firmly
where adhesive is applied to tape for hair bonding. Allow several minutes
for adhesive to securely bond to your hair. *Help is normally required
for doing this procedure.*
REMOVING AND PREPARING LACE FRONT WIG OR HAIR PIECE FOR RE-BONDING:
Over the bonding period time your own hair will continue growing. As
your hair gets longer your wig or hair piece where bonded will loosen
as your hair becomes longer. Naturally, it will become necessary to
remove your wig or hair piece for cleaning and repair.
Use the following steps for removing a wig or hair piece:
1 Peel up the front of lace front wig or hair piece where secured using
toupee tape or adhesive.
2 Where the begins at either front temple: peel the wig or hair piece
from the track system that is bonded to your hair.
3 Once the lace front wig or hairpiece has been removed: Cut hair in
track area to 1/8" long to prepare for bonding lace front wig or
hair piece once again.
Cleaning and repairing your lace front wig or hair piece should be done
before re-bonding lace front wig or hair piece once again. return
